CARE COMMISSION

The Care Commission’s “Involving People Plan” sets out the Commission’s commitment to communicate, consult with and actively involve people in the regulation of social care services. The Plan which details key messages and communication platforms to engage with the Commission’s key stakeholders was informed by the findings from a Stakeholder Survey which gathered the views of approximately 3000 people across Scotland.

Prior to its publication and to ensure that the Plan had “no negative impact on any equality group”, Scotinform Ltd was commissioned by the Care Commission to consult with equality groups to assess the most relevant means of communicating and to build upon the findings highlighted within the Stakeholder Survey.

Scotinform’s qualitative research with equality groups included representatives from the following communities: Black and Minority Ethnic, Gypsies-Travellers, Polish, disabled, Muslim, Jewish, young people (16-18 years old), older people (60+ years old) and LGBT. Scotinform recruited the groups via equality organisations which were known to Scotinform and/or which engaged with the Commission through its Equality Consultation Panel. A total of 63 participants, ranging in age from 16 to 77, took part in eight discussion groups.

Scotinform were excellent in providing quality reports and outcomes in a very short period of time.  Our tight deadlines meant that they were really put to the test but still managed to provide a professional, reliable service which was good value.  Their contact and communication with clients is excellent - regular, consistent and clear.
