Edinburgh Napier University
Edinburgh Napier University is Scotland’s top university for graduate employability and is one of the largest higher education institutions in Scotland with over 15,000 students from over 100 countries.
We have been fortunate to work with Edinburgh Napier University on a number of research projects including:
-
Branding and communications research to establish current perceptions of the University amongst key stakeholders. Scotinform conducted
focus groups with students,
depth interviews with senior management,
workshops with University staff and an
online survey of University alumni.
-
Influencer research to understand the most effective messages and channels of communication for influence groups to ensure they had the information they needed to advise applicants. Scotinform conducted
depth interviews with school/college advisors and the parents of students planning to attend university.
-
Research about Sighthill Campus
to support ongoing communication about the new Edinburgh Napier Campus at Sighthill (due to open in 2011). Research with students and staff sought to understand awareness of the move to the new campus and to establish the information needs of those involved in the move.
Focus groups were conducted with students and staff and
telephone interviews were carried out with MSPs and Councillors.
-
Research with Chinese students
to discuss their expectations of the library service at Edinburgh Napier including the extent to which libraries are used in academic study, differences in their current and previous use of libraries, whether barriers limit their use of library resources and how these could be overcome. Scotinform conducted
focus groups with Chinese students.
-
Student support research
to explore students' awareness and understanding of the personal and study support offered at Edinburgh Napier. The research was exploratory in nature with the findings intended to inform a larger quantitative project on the same topic.
